West Virginia's landscape lends itself to spectacular golf courses. Legendary golfers and golf course designers from Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer to Geoffrey Cornish and Robert Trent Jones have sculpted challenging and beautiful courses throughout the Mountain State.
Today, Gov. Manchin visits one of the state's most beloved state parks, which
also is home to a spectacular Robert Trent Jones, Sr., golf course. Cacapon
Resort also features a lodge, cabins, dining and a year-round nature and recreation
program. The Governor meets Park Superintendent Tom Ambrose who grew up on
the park and has watched his own children grow up to enjoy the same activities
he did as a boy.

About the Civilian Conservation Corps (which built many of the original state parks)
Native Americans were visiting what is now the town of Berkeley Springs long before Europeans arrived in America. This quaint community that sits in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle for centuries has attracted weary visitors in search of health remedies and stress relief. One of the town's most famous visitors was George Washington, who "took the waters" here back when it was known as the Town of Bath after its namesake English spa.
Gov. Manchin visits Berkeley Springs State Park, where he enjoyed vacationing with his father and Uncle A. James when he was a child. Little has changed at the park itself -- the Governor encounters the same friendly staff and soothing waters he remembers. But the town has become a hip arts and shopping center, loaded with handmade items, homeopathic goods and quaint, locally owned restaurants. Don't forget -- it is the country's first spa and it remains a spa town to this day, so there's no shortage of massage therapists!
